Bucks County, PA Covered Bridge Tour
On Saturday morning, 9 Corvettes left the Smyrna Rest Area for the weekend trip to Bucks County, PA. After a stop in the rain about halfway for those with small bladders, we arrived at the Washington's Crossing State Park for another break. It was still raining but we met our 10th Corvette coming down from northern New Jersey. And, as promised, it stopped raining.
Going cross country, we passed through our first Covered Bridge and continued to the Buckingham Winery. After wine tasting and stretching of legs, we continues to the Candlewyck Grill on Route 202 for lunch.
From lunch we went to the Fonthill Castle and Monrovian Tile Works for tours. After touring 44 rooms, up and down 32 staircases, all made of concrete and tile, we went to our hotel for the night.
On Sunday morning, we traveled through 5 more Covered Bridges, stopped at another winery, the Sand Castle Winery along the Delaware River, north of New Hope. We ate a late lunch in New Hope at a great diner and then parted ways. Some came straight home, some we on more sightseeing roads and some went to Peddlers Village for come hard shopping.
